Appalachian snake handlers. A normal Sunday with the copperheads

The Year of Living Biblically by A.J. Jacobs, a chronicle of the year during which Jacobs attempted to live by the rules of the bible, introduced me to Appalachian snake handlers. Apparently, they live in the mountains and take one sentence from the Gospel of Mark very literally. “They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”
